Why war veterans prone to suicide?

Scientists from the National Institute of Mental Health (USA) concluded that ex-military are twice as likely to commit suicide than people who are not related to military service.

For 12 years, American scientists have observed the changes in behaviour and 320,000 men-the military and came to the conclusion that in the special risk group includes soldiers who served in the homeland in the period from 1917 to 1994. During this period, soldiers are twice as likely to commit suicide compared to the male half of the civilian population of the United States.

Mainly, thoughts of suicide peculiar to the veterans who returned after military service with disabilities. Veterans suicide belong to the older age group, are usually, a good education, but alone or divorced. Scientists have noticed an interesting trend: the former soldiers who scored, after coming home extra pounds, less prone to suicide than their skinny counterparts.
